Supply Chain

Benetton has worked with its suppliers for a long time to build a long-term business relationship based on trust and mutual transparency. This commitment allows the annual publication of a Benetton suppliers’ list. Company name, address, employees’ range, percentage of male and female workers, stage of processing and workers’ representation type are indicated in the list. In addition, suppliers have been classified depending on the products they produce, that are apparel, accessories and shoes.

The supplier list includes first tier and second tier suppliers and manufacturer subcontractors. First tier suppliers refer to manufacturers and second tier suppliers refer to processing factories (e.g. printing, embroidery, dyeing and washing).

The list considers all active suppliers that are located in several countries all over the world and it does not consider the occasional ones (with annual volume less than 20.000 pcs for the apparel suppliers, and with annual volume less than 10.000 pcs. for accessories and shoes suppliers). Considering the volume thresholds, the list accounts for about 97% of first and second tier suppliers. Moreover, a considerable portion (more than 80%) of the “wet processes” supply chain is published and it refers to suppliers performing dyeing and washing processes on yarns, fabrics and finished products. Due to the impact they have on the environment, we pay particular attention to wet process suppliers with a dedicated program.

Due to the complexity of the supply chain management Benetton will update the supplier list once per year. During the year, in fact, new collaborations may start, as well as some phased out may occur.

In 2019, we expanded the scope of the disclosure further including the most important mills which provide our suppliers with fabric and yarn mills. The list reports the name and the address of the fabric and yarn mills. Considering the same volume thresholds applied for the first and second tiers, the fabric suppliers and yarn mills included account for about 40% and 70% respectively of Benetton Group product volume.
